KOKE YEPES

June 14, 2022. Unfortunately, I had no idea that the military was used for scams before I was scammed with Koke’s photos. Here is my story and train of thought in this madness.
I was going to work one morning and I had a message in my Instagram messenger. I hardly ever get on there, but for some reason I checked it out. Being that there was a photo of someone in the military, my thoughts were that they could be trusted on some level. Wrong!
It started off very casual and I had my guard up, but eventually they won my trust by tapping into my vulnerabilities. After I realized that is was a scam, they began to harass and threaten me for money. They threatened to ruin my life, but I am fighting back with a company that tracks them down and gets them to stop.

After being educated or informed about these scams, I ask myself constantly, “What was I thinking? Why didn’t I see the red flags? I should have known better than this”, but I’ve had lots of support from friends and family who tell me not to blame myself. I am also disgusted at what is happening to Koke and his family. His children’s pictures are also being used in these scams and that can’t be a good feeling at all for him and his wife. As a mother and educator, I am very protective of children and this bothers me to my core.

I really think that the word needs to be out there more for people like me who live day to day and are not aware of these kinds of scams. This needs to be “shouted from the rooftops!” I don’t mind being an advocate and helping to get the word out there. I will do whatever I can do to help. Be blessed.
